Mission Statement

We are congressional aides dedicated to changing the paradigm of U.S. support for the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza being carried out by the state of Israel.

Article I of the U.S. Constitution, which outlines the responsibilities of Congress as the representative voice of the American people, exemplifies our Founders' tradition of principled dissent. From the American colonies’ response to the British Stamp Act of 1765; to the women's suffrage and liberation movements of the 19th and 20th century; to abolition and the Civil Rights movementdissent as an instrument of progress is a foundational cornerstone of American democracy.

The Congressional Dissent Channel embraces this tradition of resistance to hold our elected officials accountable to the people they represent. We refuse to stand by as the august halls and hearing rooms in which we perform our duties are used to approve military aid that carries out the slaughter of innocent Palestinians. Consequently, we shed light on the conversations, meetings, and briefings that inform the actions of our elected Members of Congress, without sharing classified information

We are living through a fraught moment in U.S. foreign policy, one in which American-made bombs—paid for by American tax dollars—are dropped on homes, schools, and hospitals. Despite the evidence before our eyes, the voices advocating in Congress for the pragmatic and moral solutions that would uphold our treaty obligations and could broker peace are repeatedly sidelined, ignored, and maligned by the mainstream political and foreign policy establishment. We believe that it is imperative to act now, to save lives and prevent further bloodshed.

This channel is created and maintained in solidarity with the Palestinians' resistance to the ethnic cleansing of their people from their native land, as well as with the Israeli peace movement that aims to hold its own government to account for its atrocities. As congressional aides we believe that the U.S. government must respect the inherent humanity and self-determination of Palestinians—actions to the contrary are violations of our treaty obligations and conflict with our nation's foundational values. We vehemently condemn the October 7 attacks by Hamas, as we do any loss of innocent life and advocate for the safe return of all  hostages taken by Hamas and political prisoners on both sides. The Dissent Channel will not publish or platform any perspectives that do not align with these most basic principles of human rights.

As administrators of the Dissent Channel, we operate this platform with deep respect for the U.S. Congress and feel a sense of the profound responsibility that comes with our positions, and a prevailing hope that the United States can live up to its highest virtues as a proponent and defender of democratic ideals and human rights. As we do while performing our official duties, we will use this Dissent Channel to build political power within the halls of Congress to halt the unconditioned export of U.S. arms to Israel, to bring about a lasting peace.
